An important part of our family law services includes providing advice for estate planning, and the preparation of wills. By taking the time to plan your estate, you will be able to provide for your family, particularly after separation, where you will need to address the changes in your life, take care of your children and grandchildren, and be confident that your property will be distributed as you wish. We also draft Representation Agreements, Powers of Attorney, and Living Wills (or Advance Care Directives).
What is a will?
It's a document that establishes a "manager", known as an executor, of your estate and instructs them on what is to be done with your property when you die. The will also accounts for guardianship of children.
When should you get one?
The best time to write your will is when you have recently reached a milestone, like getting married, having kids, getting divorced, or if you simply haven't updated your will in a very long time. At any point in your adult life, if you don't have a will, now's a good time to establish one.
Do you need a lawyer?
No, but wills can get complicated quickly. We've seen some copy-and-paste versions that have not best-served the individuals that had them. You should trust a trained professional, like the lawyers here at Chhina Das LLP, to properly craft your will so that your intentions are adequately accounted for.
How much does it cost?
Our rate is $500 for a full comprehensive will. We have some of the most competitive lawyer-drawn rates in the area.

My recipe is simple: strategize the case, utilize the many years of experience I have, then tackle each issue with common sense and creativity.
I believe it's important to really understand each of my clients. I listen carefully to their emotional needs; only then can I craft a strategy that works specifically for them.
I love being able to resolve my clients' issues with creative and efficient solutions, while ensuring that they feel respected and understood during the process.
